Lavender or grey? what do you think?

I think she is a mean nasty rooster that needs to come live at my house

Ah, here it is.

Check the flight feathers and tail feathers. The rachis or central shaft on the feathers should be darker (the side facing in) than the rest of the feather.
If this is so, the bird is lavender. Blue birds have a darker central feather shaft facing in and out.

Don't know if that helps or not.

I couldn't make it to today's swap. Too far and too much to do here. Though we did go to Westford for a while. Dave's kids helped run my hellions around some. There was a nice big grassy area for them to go nuts out of the way of everyone else.

I will be going to Milford.

So the shaft on the top of the feather is the same color as the feather, and the shaft on the underside is darker?

I can't seem to hatch pullets. I still have 9 roos to place!

Tadkerson said to look at the feather shaft on the wings and tail. He said to compare the color of the shaft on the top (facing outwards) to the color of the shaft on the underside of the feather.

If the color of the shaft on the top and the underside is the same and is darker than the rest of the feather then it's a blue.

If the color of the shaft on the underside is darker than the top, and the shaft on the top is the same as the rest of the feather then it's a lavender.

Kinda confusing to write.

What's also confusing is this came up when trying to decide what color my surprise Langshan is, who it turns out is neither a splash nor a lavender.

The shaft is the hollow thing that runs down the center of the feather.
