Questions for anyone who knows.
1. Are the hens good layers and are they broody?
2. Do or will they take the hot MO summers and cool winters?
3. What size eggs do they lay?
4. I am guessing that as a whole they are a fairly gentle breed?

Thank you for your time and knowledge.

I had a lavender Orpington and they are the sweetest. She always came up to us seeking attention and pets. They are also beautiful and are truly special birds. She did tend to go broody maybe once per year but other then that she laid beautiful brown eggs regularly. I would say that the size of her eggs were about the average grocery store egg. She did fine with California heat so I would assume she would take the hot summers fairly well. Also I know orpingtons are a cold tolerant breed so they would probably do well in the frigid winters. Just be careful of frostbite due to their large comb. If you do choose to add them to your flock you won’t be disappointed 😊
