Thank you. I think it is mainly one mean hen that is doing most of the feather picking on the other birds. There is another hen who is just as mean but doesn't want to actually eat the other bird's feathers as much. I have been feeding them more protein so will watch to see if it kicks in. I will probably just have to separate them from the other breed. I was gonna wait till they were about breeding age (just to save on space) but I can see that idea is probably out lol. I've got these poor wheaten Roos with hen apron/saddles on just to keep Mean Girl from picking them totally clean. Before I put the saddles on, I actually saw Mean Girl go up to a wheaten marans roo who was laying down, and pick a feather off his back and then actually scratch on him with her feet (like when they are eating at the food dish) Grrrr !!! I don't know why the wheaten roos put up with it...they are way bigger than her lol.
Big Blue: that is so funny. Just a few days ago I had the Mean Girl feather picking hen on my lap telling her that I was gonna start calling her Nasty Nellie if she didn't straighten up LOL! The orps are so sweet to me and want ALL the attention.
