Yup these lavenders can go in any direction at this point. some look like Aussie's and some more like Orps.. just depends on what floats ones boat and which direction they take..
some are being used in other projects as well.. jersey giants, marans and few others that i know of..
should be pretty neat in the next few years ahead..

We are so glad we shared are lavender birds/eggs for many others to play around with..

Beautiful lavs everyone. I have some lav /split black orps that I hope to breed together by the end of the summer or early fall to get pure lavender.
I have a few general questions that hopefully experienced Orp people could answer: Mine were born in late Jan. They are super sweet birds to people but mean mean mean to other chickens. Is that typical of orp behavior ?(never had orps before- so curious)
Also, do orps have higher protein needs than some other kinds of chickens? I had them on purina medicated chick starter. It is 18 percent protein. I recently moved them up to a brand that is 20 percent protein because I noticed that 2 of the split blk orp hens were picking the feathers off some wheaten maran chickens (same age) that I had them in with. They were totally eating the other bird's feathers and acting like those birds were a 'buffet table' lol. I was wondering if it was a protein thing with orps or just wierd individual birds?

Ours lavenders(3-4 gen) that we have yet are pretty sweet to the others, we had a pure black orp hen slip over into there pen and they were like best of Friends out ranging in the big run together..

Please excuse my ignorance, I've never heard of lavendars until today. How are they different from a blue or a grey?
