I candeled my eggs tonight as it is day eight and all eight are developing. Hurray. Now just to wait and candel again next week.

So it's a week later and seven out of eight are good for sure. The last I am not sure of, could be a quitter. I marked it and will check them all again just before lockdown on Wednesday as they should hatch next Saturday.

Well they are in lockdown. The one I thought was a quitter is for sure bad and it didn't make lockdown. I candeled again and four of them are really good, three are iffy. I marked the iffy ones but put them all in lockdown as I am not sure they won't hatch. So seven Lavander Orp eggs in lockdown tonight. Will be my second hatch but first Orps.

I have little one already amost dry by this morning. It is cheeping away in there lonely for some company. It's early as Saturday is day 21.

I guess I don't know how to post pictures or I would of these chicks. I've tried but but doesn't seem to be much instructions and I am computer illiterate in many ways and need super easy instructions. Anyway. I just hatched out from 6 eggs, Lav roo over split hens and this is what I got. 1 pure lav, 1 yellow chick with a spot on its head ( mottled?). 2 normally marked black chicks and 2 all solid black chicks with brownish heads. These birds are in their own breeding pen so no crossing could have happened. My thinking is the solid blacks with brown are still black splits. Is there a range of colorings with Black Orpington split chicks? All I have hatched before are black with yellowish marking on face and chest. And from what I've read on this thread is that there is a possibility of mottled also depending on the line. The spot on the yellow chicks head could be either blue or black. Can't really tell at this point. Any thoughts on what it will look like? is it a mottled?
