Lavender Orpington project ....

All right. I am totally confused now. One of them is very light, a silver color. The other two are much, much darker. Can't take pictures yet as more are still hatching and I know not to open the incubator.

Since it's still a project I find the same thing going on. As time goes on and farther down the generations it will improve.

Well, the auction said Lavendar Roo to Lavendar hens except for one black split hen was in the group.

Then what you may be seeing is a hatch that looks similar to this: Both lavenders AND split blacks

Oh oh. Looks like what I see except my lavendar is really silvery looking. Heck, with only one split in the group I figgured my chances of getting a black were really slim but I guess I just got unlucky.

I have a split and a mottled Lav I consider it lucky!!!

Whats a mottled Lavander? And what do I do with the black ones? Does this mean they have to be splits as they are from a lavander Roo? Sorry for the silly questions, I am really new to chickens and its only my second hatch.

And I just noticed that I have two split blacks that look like your picture too. One has a dark face and the other a much, much lighter face. It looks so cute and I can easily tell those two apart.
