Lavender Orpington project ....

Not to complicate things but I think that allot of sellers when they use the word "pure" are referring to the color and not type. Meaning you are going to get all lavenders and not split blacks from your hatch, hence "pure". Just went and looked at some ebay ads and I think that's what they are meaning.

Either one, to me they look similar, with only a few differences. Of course I still havent seen the standard for English Orpingtons so I can compare it to ours.

Well they can say just lavender without saying pure. Also I looked on ebay and its amazing to me the strong hatchery Australorp influence they have still. They have no resemblance of Orpington in them at all.

Yes they could say that but they don't and I think that is where allot of the confusion starts.

Hi jeremy I don't know if I ever told you but I was born at Oak knoll Naval Hospital. Thats a beautiful bird and I'm glad you included " in your opinion ". We should all respect everyone's opinion which so often is not the case.

That's what I always assumed it meant as well- that if you hatch these eggs you will get "pure" lavender color, as in "no splits". Its probably not the best word, but....

Hi all

I'm also working on a small lavender orpington project and being fairly new to it wondered if bringing the pure english lavenders into it would help get more size rather than back crossing to blues and blacks and getting splits ? and has anyone done this so far ?

thanks in advance
