Hi, all! I’m new to BYC. I wanted to share a story of a fun cross with my sweet chickens, and see if anyone else has tried this cross as well 😄
This is our beautiful Lavender Orpington Hen:

And our handsome Silkie rooster (I believe his color is Silver Berchum):

And this is their baby, who is nearly 4 weeks old. I thought it was a full Silkie, until I realized it only has four toes, and no head puff so far, though lots of leg feathering. I am really excited to see how this baby matures, so far it’s a very pretty, active, sweet little bird!

Has anyone else ever tried this cross?
Have a good day everyone, and God bless!

That's a pure silkie. An orpington x silkie chick would have smooth feathers, but this chick is growing in silkie feathers. The lack of crest and five toes is wierd, but that does pop up in silkies from time to time. Either way, its a cute chick!
That is very interesting!! Well, in that case, it’s Mom is either a White Silkie or a Blue Partridge Silkie. Thank you for the information!
