Picked up these babies yesterday almost 3 weeks old. I picked 2 that looked like pullets and I didn't want a third as I was sure it was a roo and sure enough been attacking and fighting with my girls. The breeder doesn't live far so I can take him back no issues just wanted to ask what you all think of the others.
First 2 I picked as pullets and the third has much larger comb and puffing his chest and being a true roo.

I’ve had some evil hellspawn in my brooders….there was this one Barred Rock in particular. It hurt and kicked the other chicks. It would strike at them like it had spurs, kicking its legs at them while flying. It would peck them hard on the faces. It had red wattles at 3 weeks old.
She laid her first egg in August.

I have never been wrong before when they puff up the chest and start to fight they have always been roosters. I had a red Ancona who did the same and started pecking and attacking my other chicks was a rooster
But it’s not a sexing method. Chicks don’t have to be a certain gender to be bullies.
You see people on these Breed and Gender threads going in and in about how this chick that was just ‘diagnosed’ as a boy is the last chick they’d ever guess was male because it was so meek and gentle.
And I have raised some incredibly mean girls.
I’m not saying your chick is not male. I’m saying that behavior is not a reliable sexing method.

Fair call my sexed girls from the stockfeed are so beautiful and just want to be next to me all the time. I culled a Plymouth and ancona for being aggressive. I don't want that around me or my kids and they didn't want to be touched either. I can take them back to the breeder at any stage or cull if I'm wrong illegal to have roos where I live
