Laverne & Shirley or Larry & Steve

Hi all,
Here are two BR (Barred Rock) chicks I am having trouble figuring out if they are boys or girls! The larger chick is Laverne and she/he is 5-6 weeks old. Her mother might be a SLW, but l am not sure. The Smaller chick is Shirley. Shirley is 4-5 weeks old, and l am thinking boy...

For sure that's a Steve. Not so sure about Laverne.

Laverne is a pullet. Shirley is a Steve.

I am not supposed to have roosters so I will probably give it back to the breeder.

I just saw the other pics you had posted today for someone else and they were perfect examples.

Looks like Laverne and Steve to me, too... Laverne has rounded saddle feathers, I think... and Steve's comb sure is pink!

But Laverne is a sweetie and Steve has been too but just starting to get attacky and stuff...

That boy is way too young to actually attack anything--he's probably just testing boundaries if he's biting or something like that. A rooster doesn't actually become aggressive, if he's going to, till he's interested in girls and his hormones kick into overdrive. Personally, I love BR roosters. They've been my main flock rooster for years now, first Hawkeye, then his sons. If one flogs, he goes, no questions, no hesitation.

He isn't attacking me but the with Laverne he is starting to do this squatty attack thing kind of like a cat and none of my other girls have done anything like that. We'll keep him for awhile and I would love to have a rooster!
