I'd like to know the answer to that one too. I've heard that chickens like to dig holes for dustbathing near walls, supposedly because it's cooler there, but that doesn't explain why mine prefer the sunniest corner of the chain link fence.Seems like this is an acceptable alternative to burying the fence. I wonder why the chickens are digging near the fence though? Surely it can't be to escape. Do y'all think they are simply after fresh ground?
