layena vs flockraiser

Quote:
it's $14somethin here, but Layena is only $12somethin

That's ok, it really doesn't bother me to pay a bit extra for it. I know the results I get. I have a 4 year old blacksexie that is still laying on a daily basis. Same for you 2 year old Red sexies. Chicks thrive on it.

Yeah the chicks really seem to like the flockraiser, i mix about a 50/50 start n grow and flockraiser for my shamo cross chicks and they seem to like it alot. I am also currently using the 50/50 for my buff laced oeg bantam chicks. They all seem to like it.

I've used both FlockRaiser and Layena together. I put two bags together side by side, bottom opened, poured into the garbage container together at the same time. It will give the girls some higher protein when they needed it and Layena for calcium and lower protein and had very good results so far. They seemed to like it pretty well.

As for chicks, I use the FlockRaiser by itself from Day one and forward until they start laying.

This thread has answered nearly every question I had about feeding. Except one: I have laying hens, separated from pullets (about 16 weeks), separated from brand new chicks. I already have a bag of layena that I would like to finish up with the layers. The pullets are on flockraiser because I had ducks for a while. I need to buy another bag today. Now, I would like to know, if I feed the flockraiser to the chicks, do I need to supplement with anything?

this thread has been very informative for me. I have 9 week old chicks and 1 year old hens that tear through some feed. it would be so much easier not to buy two different types of feed, but to buy two bags of the same stuff. we had thought about going to flockraiser, but I wanted to look into it first on the reasons why people use it. I think it will be very beneficial to my flock. my little ones are mostly heavy breeds (glw, bjg, bo, br) and I think it will be better for them. now I just need to set up a oyster-shell bar. lol

thank you everyone for your input and answers to the other questions...I am sure you have helped many people that haven't even thought of the benefits of switching feed
