Layer breeds

Howdy, I'm just wondering what breed I should add to my flock. I'm wanting to get at least 120-200 eggs annually and I also want a friendly chicken. Please just comment some ideas below! Thanks!

I had Rhode Island Reds and Sussex's in mind, any feedback?

I can't vouch for either of those breeds though I have heard many good things. I personally loveee my sexlinks. They are very friendly and lay a ton of eggs. I also love my silkies which don't lay a ton but are probably the absolute nicest bird ever. I believe a silkie will lay about 100-150 eggs a year but keep in mind every bird is different and that the numbers you find are averages.

You could try Craigslist and see if anyone has any on there. Also if you have a tractor supply in your area I know they are doing fall chick days this year so if your tractor supply is participating they may get some silkie chicks.

My red sexlinks are my friendliest my Cochins come in as a close second though.

Australorps, Plymouth Rocks, & Swedish Flower Hens would be my top picks for year round layers.
