I am just about out of food and my pullets are 16 weeks, 14 weeks and 13 weeks old. Can I just go ahead and switch them to layer or do I need to get another bag of starter? There is starter (10 weeks and under), grower (10 weeks and over) and layer available here...

If you had them on medicated chick starter you definetly want to get them off of it. As for layer? The only diference is the addition of calcium which you could just free offer in the form of oyster shell and a regular or higher protein feed if you are expecting them to start laying soon. Just my opinion not the rule. Good Luck!

I wait until they are 18-20 weeks to start the layer feed. My feed mill offers a 15% and 18% layer feed. I feed the 18% until they are about a year old, then switch to the 15%.

I have been mixing grower feed with layer feed (and adding cayenne pepper and DE) into a big jug - about half and half - and giving that to my ladies. They like the big grit of the layer, but won't be laying for another month, maybe sooner, so still need the grower.
They are about 16 weeks old. They are fat and happy, with bright red combs and waddles.
Good Luck!
