I have 6 hens that should start laying next month, but I have 3 hens and 2 Khaki Campbell female ducks that are a month younger then them. Should I wait to start Layer feed for when they are ALL within laying age and just give them crushed oyster shell or will it be OK to feed all of them layer feed? They all free range and eat out of the same feeders.

I have a mixed age flock of chickens, from a couple of weeks to 3 or 4 years. Everyone gets grower or flock raiser feed. Everyone is offered grit and oyster shell, separately, and separate from the feed. Works well.

But I don't know anything about ducks!

Do you ever give them Layer feed or just stick with the Flock Raiser feed all year?
