Layer Feed

I need help. I have started feeding my hens layer food. They are about 16 - 17 weeks old. Someone told me that I shouldn't feed layer food all the time it causes blood in the eggs. Is this true? Should I be feeding them something else?

I feed only layer feed and I’ve never gotten a bloody egg out of the 200+ I’ve gotten in the 2 months my girls have laid. I’m no expert but I don’t think it’s true.

Layer feed won't cause bloody eggs! It's designed for actively laying hens, and I don't feed it here to anyone.
An all-flock feed that's a bit higher in protein, with free choice oyster shell in a separate dish, works well for all the birds instead.

I started transitioning my pullets onto layer feed around week 16 because that is what a book I was reading said to do. They were fine and started laying right on time.
