When do ducks start laying again after they moult. I have 3 that are just getting their wing feathers back. Do they start when they are fully feathered out again?
Also a weird question. My Runner drake is in moult too, is he fertile while hes moulting...I dont know, so thaught I would ask. I supose I could google and find out

My ducks generally are off the lay for around 6 weeks- some less and some more. I have a pekin who was a little egg machine for a while who didnt stop laying at all durring a molt, which had me a little worried for her. My girls are just coming back into lay now - and havent got all their feathers back. The wing feathers are about half grown.

As for fertility- I havent incubated any of the eggs laid after their molt yet- so I really couldnt say about that yet. I know the males have continued to mate- I plan on putting a small number of eggs into the incubator when my third girl is laying regularly again- so I will be able to test for that too- as the drakes are a little behind the girls in molting.
