I live in Oklahoma, and I have 7 chickens that are about to be egg-laying age. Since they are "coming of age" right when Winter is coming on and the days are getting shorter, are they at a greater risk for becoming egg bound? I wasn't planning on using artificial light, but should I?

Pullets that mature in decreasing light tend to mature more slowly, and should generally have less problems because of it. Lights will do nothing for their first season as they will lay through winter at a decreased rate.
That's a relief. Thank you. We're anxious for them to start laying, but we want them to do it in their own time.
