I have some pullets that are Shaver Reds I believe and i was just wondering how old they should be before they start laying.

Most breeds lay at about 20 weeks. How old are yours? As soon as you get one egg....start them on layer pellets...and oyster shell.

The sexlink types usually lay a bit earlier than the purebreds, sometimes as early as 16 or 17 weeks old. I just had one of my teen group start laying at 18 weeks old.

Good question . I needed to know the same thing. My roo's are about 2 months old and the pullets are about 5-6 weeks old.
