what age should I take my chickens and ducks off the 15% grower and on layer and oyster-shell?

They are still on 15% grower and about 2 months old.

Are there any precautions I should take with the breed differences, as I have my ducks and chickens in the same area and eat the same food.

Wow - as I was filling up the feeders with the Starter & Grower tonight, how did you know that I was wondering the same thing? You're g-o-o-d ...

When do we switch feed and switch it to what?

I'd keep the birds on starter until you see an egg. Then switch them to layer pellets.

You can mix a little starter into the layer pellets, adding less and less each day until

you are no longer adding starter. It helps them switch over better, rather than taking

away the food they've been eating for so long in all together. Once they are eating

things other than starter, you should provide grit daily. I also give my laying hens

a bowl of oyster shell daily (do not give oyster shell to chicks) And a handfull of scratch

for each bird daily. Scratch is a treat, not a complete diet so use it sparingly.
