Also, how do I train them to use the laying box to lay eggs?

We used milk crates. Found the idea on pinterest and used recycled wood we had around.

Hi, before i got a new coop with the nesting boxes built intonthe chciken house, our nesting boxes were made of a plastic shelf with a plastic cardboard divider in the middle for privacy The chickens loved it and sometimes would sit in it just to be lazy

I trained my chickens to use the nesting boxes by putting a fake egg in the boxes

I used 2 18-gallon Rubbermaid tubs (no lids) and fashioned mine...they love them!
