Laying egg in food??

Two days in a row one of our chickens have layed her eggs in the metal food container in the house. The pole she sits on is just above it could she be laying it from up there and dropping it in? It has been broken both times.

It is possible she is laying it from the pole. I assume this is the feeder for them. Is it a cylinder or a trough? An cylinder feeder without a lid may look like a good place to her, to make a nest and lay in. If that is the case I'd cover it. Is she a new layer? She may not yet have figured out she is going to drop one soon or where to lay yet.
