got my ducks back in June. So probably hatched around June 20th. A Cayuga and Indian runner. After a bit of reading I thought they would start laying early to mid February. Let them out today to feed and roam around I let them free range when I’m home to keep an eye on them. Today’s weather was nice so I went to change out the bedding today. Low and behold I found eggs. Started out as 4 just laying in the back of the coop. Went on to clean more found 4 more I ended up breaking one while I was cleaning. So I’m guessing one egg a day. I ran cold water over them to get the crude off. The eggs are greenish in color so I’m thinking it’s the Cayuga. Is there a way to check the freshness of the eggs. I’m new to the egg laying part. I have no drakes so they won’t be fertile eggs.

Now wondering which duck laid these eggs. I have a cayuga and indian runner. When i took them out the indian runner went to the empty nest and looked. The first ones were tasted good. The eggs are a greenish in color.

I don’t have Cayuga but from all I have read on here they can have blk to charcoal to grey to almost white and Runners can be blue, greenish and white so it’s a toss up in who laid yours. We’d love to see some pics of your cuties.
