I am new to chickens and I have done lots of research but still have so many question! All my chickens were born April 1st. Yesterday afternoon I went to hangout with them and found 3 eggs. 2 light brown the same color and 1 a little darker and the same size. They were in the run. I was really surprised! We cleaned the coop and opened the nesting boxes. Are they suppose to lay this young? What do I need to do next to make sure they have everything they need?

did you hatch them? if not they are older than you think, there is NO way that they are laying at 2 months. 9 weeks is way to young! mine are 10 weeks and are still little!

Tis the season.I got my laying hens late last summer in August and didn’t get eggs until spring just because we went into winter.

I would ask the same unless you hatched them yourself I would think they were older. 18 weeks is around when they start laying I thought.

So you're figuring 11.5 weeks or so? Did you hatch them yourself or get them as day old chicks? That does seem very young. What breeds do you have?

My are still pretty small I think and yes I got them at a day old.
