I just got 10 laying RIR's on Saturday. Added them to the 2 Dominiques I had, one roo and one hen. Not all of them are laying, out of 10, we got 5 eggs yesterday and 5 already today (11 am). I have heard that sometimes it takes them a bit to settle in to a new place and start laying...is this correct? Will the laying pick up? I am so anxious and excited!!

Yes, individual hens can take varying amounts of time to adjust to new surroundings and start laying again. The day after a move or really any major change that disrupts their routine (chickens are alllll about routine), you'll likely to still gets eggs because those eggs were already "in the works". After that it can take days, weeks or even longer before they lay again. Just depends on the individual and how quickly they adjust.

I too am in this same situation ( well not yet but gonna soon) We are building a new coop right behind the old one and moving the run over about 25 feet from where it is but it'll all change when the new run is finished. I am scared of how they will react. I am hopeing to give them a chance to have a day or so to check out the new run and coop before we cut the other one off completely from them and tear it down . We started on the side of the run in the existing run yesterday. They were all in our way checking out what we were doing.
