Laying for over an hour but no egg

She's panting, looking around, continues to move around the straw, continuously moves straw with her beak to place it in other places. She does not look content. She looks like she's just sitting there waiting for the egg to just come out without her pushing.

Maybe she's getting close to laying it. Has she been rearanging the straw all this time? If they are egg bound, they are usially pushing. Any other signs?

Yeah, she lays for maybe a minute then gets up and moves around; then she seems unsatisfied with her nest so she will rearrange the straw, then lay for a minute or so, panting, then she'll get up and move around then lays down, then rearranges the straw. This happens for an hour or more. Today after an hour and a half she just stepped down and walked away.

Hmmm, I would still treat her for egg binding. Give her behind a warm bath, massage her vent and back area, dry her and give her herbs in the nest.

ok.... so far I gave my hen some liquid calcium, then gave her a bath to relax her vent. We took her out and put Ky jelly on her vent, then took 2 hot pads put them in a kennel, towel on top of that. Towels over the kennel to lock in moisture for her vent. Waited an hour, and will let her go soon; so far no egg, but hopefully if anything it will relax her.

she didn't lay last night, maybe not egg bound. We'll see about today if she lays.....she gets on the bale around 12:30, we'll see.

no egg today, she still seems very healthy. She didn't even try laying. Odd.

She laid a small hard shelled egg this morning at 9:30.
