I have 6 birds. 5 are laying. 3 use 1 nest box , 1 uses the other nest box and I have a bird laying from off the roost. She drops the egg into the poop on the poop board or onto the board itself.

Is there anyway I can break this Or should I add another nest box and hope it helps?

Is she a young layer? Sometimes when they are young, they do it in their sleep.
Every so often Ihave one that does it. Eventually, she will grow oiut of it.
If she's not young, I really don't know

Young layers are still developing their ability and the oviduct is still getting the hang of producing the eggs. Several of my young layers did the same thing. It works itself out after several weeks. I wouldn't worry about it. The pullets will probably eat any eggs that drop from the roost. If you don't get the egg before they do, I wouldn't worry about that either. It will not turn them into egg-eaters. Mine didn't become egg-eaters, even though they RELISHED every roost egg and partial-shell egg that presented itself to them!

My girls did the same thing when they sarted laying. I had one girl she laid an egg while walking around and she turned around and saw the egg and started acting like it scared her.

They should get the hang of it if you have other hens using the nest. Have you put any golf balls or fake eggs in the nest?

My hens are over a year old and I still occasionally have one drop one from the roost. I have to let them out of their little roosting house each day and although I get down there by 6:30, it's not soon enough for one of them.

Yeah they have golf balls in their nest boxes. They have free choice to be in the coop or in the run. We dont shut them in anymore at night.
