Laying goose

We are having a few nights when it gets down into the 30's , but most nights it's in the mid 40's and daytime's are low 60's to lo 70's , which are abour 5/7 degrees above 'normal'

Finally got all 3 involved / 1 is due any day with 16 eggs under her / 2 is setting with 15 eggs about 5 days in now and / 3 is laying and has 6 eggs in nest now .. ,, and i'm already getting inquries about when thay can come and get a few babies to take home ,, I may not part with any that hatch . I know that all are not going to hatch , but I am hopeing for at least 12 to 15 overall on this firat nesting , which there should be at least 3 nestings per goose this spring /

Well #1 abandoned her nest ,, I got to the eggs before they got completly cold and put them in the hatcher ,, will let them have 3 or 4 days ,, / #3 left her nest and went to the nest of #2 to lay .. #2 has been setting for about 1 week now . I built another gate to seperate #2 ,, whatever got me to thinking I even wanted geese,,,, it takes less management time to handel 60 chickens than 5 geese

But when those goslings hatch you'll forget all about the trouble they put you through.

#1's eggs that were gathered up and put in the hatcher , hit pay dirt today got 1 to hatch
there were 16 in there 1 was leaking so it was bad , 1 hatched and maby another one or 2 will . going to give them till Sunday . You were right the managment time already spent ment nothing .

I hope you get more to hatch. I leave the first six eggs and take the rest to incubate as none of my geese want to stay on the nest for any length of time. I figured they were all to young yet because they are under a year old. I have nine eggs out of eleven developing in the incubator right now and I started another eight yesterday in the second incubator. One good thing about the geese is they grow fast and I have been told that the older geese will usually adopt the young ones even if they don't hatch them out. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the case. I plan on trying to get the goose to take the young ones after they hatch out and dry off. I plan on putting them in her nest and then shooing her over to the babies after I put them out in the nest. I will then watch to see if she will take them under her wings. Only time will tell. If she won't mother them then I will place them in a brooder box until they can go outside on their own. Good luck!

I hope you get some more babies. We dont even get laying this early in the year up here. Geese are sooooo dumb that I wonder why I mess with them either but when you get that baby.. it is all worth it. Would love to get a baby fix by seeing a picture of your little one.

Only got the 1 but goose #2 is still hanging in there with 15 eggs , and I think that #3 has a hidden nest out around the pond somewhere she has quit laying here in the pens ,, I turn them out to freerange each day and they come back to the coop at nite .

goose #2 is hatching started today have counted 4 so far but havn't gotten too close . / goose #3 laid 4 and then quit laying / the baby from #1 , the only one to hatch is female . am going to watch #2 and when she thinks she's finished I'll look for unhatched eggs to put in the hatcher.
