Laying hens with "water belly" or "ascites"?

She's a cute little thing. Just go day to day, is all you can do. They can be amazing when it comes to resilience. Anyway, the fluid looks the same color as Bitsy's was. Could be liver, heart, ovarian cancer. Anyway, she should pick up. I guess we were lucky cause Bits never got sick, either time. She was just glad it was over, as were we! :p

thank you for all your help...
I put Kohl back out with her 3 sisters, and she is much happier...
I don't think she is completely well, but she seemed so sad in the dog cage. (chicken hospital)
I'm watching her as best I can, she is still a little puffy, but her feathers look much better, and she is more active.
She's only two years old in October, so I hope she makes it ok...

She was the most reliable layer I had, so these birds are turning into expensive pets...
out of four birds, I'm only getting 3 eggs every other day..

Thanks again.

Glad she is doing better. Do try to keep her on the Milkthistle, did you find it? Or the Zyfend? I give Bitsy her Milkthistle sprinkled on a grape, or on a little bread ball with a smidge of peanut butter. could be a lot of reasons why they are not laying as much. It does take a hen a day to form an egg and lay it.
