Laying in front of the pop door

Yep. Two by the pop door just now.

Yesterday 4 in the nest boxes! Yeah today, one in the corner. They will figure it out.

So Sheba, my black hen, was preparing to lay...next to the pop door. I gently picked her up and placed her in the nest box.

She jumped out and ran like Hell into the run. Oh well. I tried.

Did you "fence" her in there when you put her in? I use my arms to block them from exiting until they calm down and start exploring the box (takes about 30-60 seconds for them to settle down for me), other people have covers or use things like plywood to temporarily fence them in the box until they lay.
