Laying in mud

So my hen will go to the shallow spot in my pond and sit in the mud. It’s 50 degrees today. I will move her and she goes right back and just sits there with her eyes closed. Any idea why she is doing this?

Mine do that when they're content in the sun. From the looks of it she found a sun spot.
