laying issues

I have an Isa Brown pullet that started laying at 18weeks. she laid every day for about a month and then laid 3 tiny eggs with no yoke and hasn't laid at all in for a couple weeks. Any suggestions?

Hello and Welcome to BYC. Glad that you have joined with us in this poultry loving community. Your ISA browns are a high production layer that are similar to my high production Rhode Island Reds. The RIR was used in the making of ISA Browns. The small eggs you mentioned are called Fairy Eggs and it happens for what ever reason. I don't know what the inside scoop in on that but it's not a thing to worry about. Can you tell us about any changes as in coop, run, feed, anything? Is she your only chicken?

It is common for young layers to have many hiccups in laying for the first few months. 18 weeks is young to start laying and her laying machine is not yet mature. As she grows, she should work these kinks out over several months.

Make sure she is on a good high protein feed of 16% to 17% protein, oyster shell on the side in a separate tub, clean fresh water every day and limit treats to 10% of her diet so she eats enough of the formulated feed.

Maybe it's going around again as my silkies darn near all stopped for about a week, then a few days ago, it's like all back to normal again. I think here it's the drastic temperature changes. We go from 100F to 45F. Is it doing that there too?

i have 6 hens, she is the only one having issues. there haven't been any changes other that going from starter feed to laying feed.
