I checked on the girls late in the evening and there was nothing in the nesting box. This morning there was 2 eggs and this afternoon there was another 4. I only have 5 chickens in the coop. Is this possible?

I have 3 layers and am getting 5 eggs a day. I am no expert but think it is common to get multiple eggs.

I am curious as to what breed of "super chickens" y'all have. I was under the impression that chickens laid on average every 26 hours when laying "daily".

Let me see if I've got this--- A chicken can lay anythime during the day. But when they get to the point that it's dark they hold it til the next day. And the next egg is still moving so that it comes out at the end of the day. So you end up with one or two days a week no eggs.
Do the chickens get in sync with each other?

That seems to make sense. It has only happened once so far for us. Lots of double yolkers though
