Laying on floor!

How do I get my chickens to lay eggs in the nesting boxes.I have young chickens one is laying so far but lays one every other day on the floor of coop! Any suggestions? Please.

Have you put fake eggs in your nest boxes... I put golf balls in ours and have only found one egg so far out in the chicken run... the other 9 were laid in the nest boxes...

One of my girls would lay in the run and as soon as the other girls started laying in the nest boxes i think she got curious and jumped in to find out why all the other girls were going in these boxes. No more eggs on the ground since then.

I also have straw in the nest boxes and shavings in the coop. When i put straw down in the coop one of my hens made a nest of her own on the floor so i quickly removed the straw off of the floor and replaced it with shavings. Also put some fake eggs or golf balls in the nest, you can take them out later when the girls have figured things out. Hope that helps
