the first girls came altogether-15. We have 4 that are 4wks younger. Put baby golden comet in 2 wks ago and she started laying last weekend. Baby buff Orpington was last night; still have wyandotte and buff to add and they will be put in together by end of next week. How big is coop....in feet by feet?
How many birds total?
Time line of who was added and when?
Multiple feed/water stations always helps with integrating new birds.
Space is probably tighter in the coop, so more stress with pecking order activities...less room to get away.
It can take while for everyone to get along without overt pecking, but pecking of lower status birds will always happen.
very true. Our coop is 8x10, plus 15ft high. Husband came up w design and we helped. When we move we will just get a prefab she'd coop and much larger. Everyone has their own space and perch space. 7 nesting boxes. 2 feeder, 1 5gallon nipple waterer. Little ones refuse to use it so we will put the nipple cup pvc waterer soon. I know about pecking order will happen. It just went easier for the last LO to adjust 2wks ago.
