Laying patterns?

Help! My favorite laying hen has started to decrease her egg numbers. She started laying about a week ago, and she's laid an egg a day. The third day in she laid three eggs. then she laid one a day, and one day she didnt lay at all. Is this normal?

What is normal is that it can take them a month or so to adjust to the whole laying process, and odd things happen for a while, at least for some chickens. One chicken laying 3 eggs in a day is a little worrisome but even that may straighten out. Actually I wonder if all 3 eggs came from the same chicken.

Just try not to change their routine any more than you have to for a month or so, and watch and enjoy!

looking back a few weeks or so the one hen the first day she laid apparently laid 2 eggs in the morning. I thought maybe the other one laid but nothing in all the weeks she just started laying 2 days ago so it had to be the first hen. go figure. after a week or so she had a day on and day off of laying and now back on again. also the first hen laid late morning or mid morning and now both seem to lay early AM.
