Laying pellets for chicks?

Hi, I just hatched my first chick and have a Q.

So, we don't have chick feed, but I have laying pellets, can I just ground these up? Or do I need medicated feed? If so I can run to the store real quick, we're heading on a camping trip today so fast answers might be better

I believe laying pellets have a bit too much calcium in then for chicks. You don't need medicated feed, but you should get some chick mash or grower crumbles.
