laying question

OK hey do you think my feed has enough protein because my local hardware store doesnt carry game bird feed. It is a mix of scratch feed ,oyster shells ,non - medicated chick starter ,and 15 percent layer crumbles.

Well it depends on what the protein is in the starter and what proportions you're mixing.

I feed my chicks 30% starter up until the hens start laying. I feed my meat roosters 30% as well

until slaughter. I feed my breeders and layers a 22% protein Layer/Maintainer mix.

The latter, might be a little calcium heavy for the roo's but none of them will have a second birthday,

kidney trouble is pretty far down the worry list.

Try to get and stay pretty close to those numbers and you should do alright.

Check with your feed dealer about soy protein, or even calf starter

My feed mill has a certified dude that custom mixes my starter, you may find someone willing to

work with you.

I'm in Georgia as well.

I would try to get my protein up, it makes a big difference. especially with hatchlings and early development is crucial.

The problem is, you cannot get higher than your highest percentage input if you mix equal parts of 20% and 15% your outcome will be 17.5%
