Laying sign?

What are some signs that a hen is getting ready to start laying?

comb and wattle will get pinker/redder. They sometimes will become more approachable. And mine...got more talkative.

Well one of my Silkies would crouch to be petted and became friendly after being very neurotic for a few weeks. The other never wants any attention. That said both got noticable combs within a days of laying.

Mine started getting into the nesting boxes a few days before they actually started laying. Kind of checking them out and such.
