Thats a long time to wait for eggs as most chicken's are around 5 months
Yes, sadly. But we did our researchYes.
Unfortunately, many people get caught up in the cute factor and fail to research the breeds they choose so that they're caught blindside by things like late maturity or poor laying ability.![]()
They are fluffy. I do believe the white one is laying, but not too sure. She’s very skittish though, which means it’s hard to catch her.Yes, sadly. But we did our research![]()

It depends on the time of the year , the breed, the individual chicken. And of course where you live (amount of sunlight).Thats a long time to wait for eggs as most chicken's are around 5 months
My experience is that a chicken born after the end of april, rarely starts laying that same year.
I got 3 chicks that were hatched June 5, 20201. Two started in November, one laid her first on November 5, ie, exactly 5 months. The other started about a week later. The third one, who is a different breed (Jubilee Orpington), has yet to start laying. Sigh.Thats a long time to wait for eggs as most chicken's are around 5 months
