Everyone else is laying, thankfully. They should be starting, as Cochins usually start laying from 8-9 months old, unless you’re lucky like @Little Baby Bean

Unfortunately, many people get caught up in the cute factor and fail to research the breeds they choose so that they're caught blindside by things like late maturity or poor laying ability.

They are fluffy. I do believe the white one is laying, but not too sure. She’s very skittish though, which means it’s hard to catch her.

I learned from a seasoned chicken keeper that the skittish ones you can check/treat at night, after they’ve gone to roost.

It depends on the time of the year , the breed, the individual chicken. And of course where you live (amount of sunlight).

If the chickens live in a natural setting they often start laying when the days lengthen.

My experience is that a chicken born after the end of april, rarely starts laying that same year.

That probably varies by latitude due to winter day length differences.

My May and even June chicks laid in November and December -- but my winter days in North Carolina don't get as short as they get further north.

I got 3 chicks that were hatched June 5, 20201. Two started in November, one laid her first on November 5, ie, exactly 5 months. The other started about a week later. The third one, who is a different breed (Jubilee Orpington), has yet to start laying. Sigh.
