chickens just started to lay (well one anyway) trouble is she won't lay in a nest. I have the nest boxes on the side of the building the kind that you can get to from the outside. lays in corner an from the roost to the floor. I put golf balls in the nests but no go. How do you get them to lay in the nest boxes?

It's ok thier new at it, After two months my are still laying sometimes in the run. they'll find the nest.

Also next time place the egg in the nest for the night, you may find another in there as well the next day.

I tried a plastic egg before our pullets started laying, but it didn't work and I found an egg in our shed. What I did was take the egg from where she had been laying (the real one), placed it in a nest box, and showed it to her. The next day she laid in the nest box. I don't know if this will work with your girl, but you could try it. You might want to mark the egg you're putting in there, so you know which one's the old one.
