how long do chicken lay eggs?

Some say that they can lay until 8 yrs old. They do lay less every year after two years age. Some quit altogether sooner than others. Some is due to breed, and some due to environment and some due to individual ability. Some quit laying in wintertime after a certain age, but are good for maybe 8 months a year.
