i was wondering if someone can tell me for how long a barred rock hen will lay for and also black cochin?

I have a EE that is eight and she layed last year . She was given to me last summer and she was seven and she layed like three eggs and would take three or four days off and then start again so I don't know if she will lay again this season or not . I do know she still lets the rooster have his way with her so maybe. They can lay till they are in their teens from what I have been told but they will just decrease in productivity.

I cant help you with the black cochin, but I have 4 barred rock hens that are 2 years old and are still laying almost daily. I have a 4 year old black star hen that lays every day and takes 1 or 2 days off every 2 weeks. She is a true egg laying machine.

The Easter Egger I have that is eight years old layed me an egg yesterday. SO in the bator it went she is a sweet old lady and I want another one just like her , I hope it hatches.

You can't tell about one individual hen. They are all different. On average, after their first or second adult molt (depending on their age when they do their first adult molt) they tend to lay 15% less after each successive molt. Remember, this is a flock average, not specific individual hens. So if a flock averages laying 7 eggs per hen every 10 days over a three month period, the flock will probably average 6 eggs per hen every 10 days for a three month period after an adult molt.

For whatever reason our Barred Rocks have really slowed down their laying. All of the other breeds are doing great. I have been wondering if the cooler weather has affected them more that the others. We have 11 BR hens and only getting a couple of eggs per day.

right now my barred rock started laying a little better but all my others are not laying,my barred rock are seperate and its been 2 days no eggs at all with over 25 hens except the BR
