lays head over things and goes to sleep???

Hello! This little chick likes to find things to lay their head over and then usually go to sleep. They will seek out my hand and once their chest is against it, lay their head over. They do it to their broodmate too. Does anyone know what this behavior means? Is it a common one that I just don't know about? They are eating, drinking, pooping, running around, exploring and seem healthy. I don't think they are cold, but I have only witnessed this during outside time. They have been named Ethel, but I have no idea if they are a little roo or hen.

The behavior means the chick finds comfort and security in soft, pillow-like items to lay its head on when it goes to sleep, and finds your hand and its brooder mates to be adequately safe and soft.
