I’m concerned my chicken might have mareks disease. She can walk. But just prefers to lay on her side. But not in the way the chickens do when they sun themselves. She just prefers to lay down and eat her food etc.

I’m not sure how she would have gotten in. She is in with a vaccinated hen and is not even laying yet.

She is unvaccinated herself. They didn’t have any vaccines in the feed store.

I just don’t know if this is what early onset looks like.

I checked for bumble foot. But I saw nothing.

And how do I prevent my other hens from getting the disease. Could it be something else?

What's her diet? Why do you think it's mareks?
Zucchini and corn for some goodies. And then she gets chick food and or layer food. She is in with the larger chickens. So I do both types of feed.

And the typical oyster shell and grit options.

Her behavior is just so odd it’s not like she is dust bathing. It’s like she is not wanting to walk.

We have a large amount of quail and wild birds that like to chill around the coop.

I will say she has another hen in with her that hatched with her and she is totally fine.

We had a recent heat wave yesterday but it’s windy and cooler out today.

Her name is Toupé and I adore her so much. So I’m just worried and trying to find a solution

Hiw much 'goodies' does she get? The chicken feed needs to be at least 90% of their diet.
Have you tried vitamin therapy?

lol she doesn’t get a lot at all. They get them once a week.

I have not tried that.

Does she have any other symptoms? Could she have injured her leg or hip?

As mentioned some vitamins might help. 1/2 of a B complex and some vitamin E.
