Lazy Chickens?

My 2 hens like to sit by the door of their pen, they cannot wait to be let out

But when I do let them out they run (and this makes me LOL I am new to chickens and it is very hysterical when they run) to a spot under a bush in front of the house

Then they stay there for about 2 hours and then move to the front porch and look at our door, like they want to be let in!

I shoo them off because I dont like chicken poop on the porch and they promptly go back to the coop and want to be shut up for the night

Shouldnt they explore more than this or are they "normal" (if that applies to chickens LOL)

Are the going for the shade of the bush and front porch?

If it is hot and sunny, they may be looking for some place shady and cool?

Just a thought?

are they young? cause when i first got my two chicks they stayed by a certain tree and never ventured far from it, then they started exploring more and more and now they are little explorers that will disappear for an hour or two just roaming around.

you guys are great-yep they must be looking for shade because they sun themselves sometimes but stay under the house or under this bush most of the time

and YES they are young as well
