I have a 5 week old chick that I think may have gotten its eye almost poked out. It's puffed up, lethargic, and yellow crust is coming out of its nostril. One eye looks normal and the other looks like a googly eye. When I go to check the hurt eye. She closes it and won't open it again until she feels like I'm not gonna bother it. I tried to prompt a reaction from her with some mealworms as a treat, and she didn't seem interested. Almost like she couldn't even see it. She doesn't move much and will only drink if I bring her to the water and dunk her beak in. I think this happened recently. Is there anything I can do for her? Will the lazy eye go away? I removed one of the more aggressive chicks from the brooder and isolated it in case it was pecking at her eye. I'm worried about her! Let me know if you need a better picture, the hurt eye is the one half closed. She moves when I try to get a good picture of her.

So sorry to hear about your little chick! I think that the best you can do right now is to give her a lot of TLC, and make sure she keeps eating and drinking. Maybe putting some Vetericyn poultry eye care salve or spray on her eye will help. Try to keep her as stress free and calm as you can. Good luck, I hope she gets better!:)
