Lazy Muscovy Drake

Why is my muscovy drake so lazy compared to my hen? My hen is constantly foraging, eating bugs, and moving when she is out. However, my drake does not do nearly as much foraging and seems to be standing in place or sitting down for long periods of time.

My drakes are a lot lazier, especially when it's hot.

How old is he? What do you feed? Have you checked his fet and legs for swelling?

My drake isn’t near as busy as his girls. He is really a lazy boy

He is 1 year old. His feet and legs seem fine and he walks normally. He also loves being hand fed treats lol

How many treats? Maybe he is getting fed too many. 10% or less is recommended and if you want them to forage I would offer less. Some days my ducks get zero treats.

My drake sits more than hens, and seems lazy at times. Although he wags his tail a lot, and is aware of everything going on around him. Maybe it's just typical that drakes are not as busy as hens.

I really think it is Muscovy's are just basically more laid back anyway and the drakes more so. Mine wags his tail a lot too it's so cute.
