Does anyone think that Milk Thistle might help to tip the balance? The original yellow BM kinda screamed out liver distress to me and milk thistle is safe and easy to give and its really really effective.
I also like L-glutamine and B. subtilis for bringing them back from the stress of illness. Any thoughts?
I have used it for Mareks birds when they go into liver failure, it perks them back up almost immediately- gives them a little more quality of life time. I also give it to animals that get really bad from parasites. I've seen it turn yellow/green poop to normal poop in less than a day.
L-glutamine helps to repair mucous membranes, i.e. intestinal lining. Not sure how it does this but it has been shown to be effective.
B. subtilis or Bacillus subtilis is a probiotic which has been shown to be more effective against coccidia than coccidiocidal drugs.
What is the recommended amount per Kilo? I have the 250 mg capsules.
@rbaker0345 , x2 on @KsKingBee 's question about how much milk thistle would be an appropriate amount to give a bird? Likewise, how much L-glutamine and B. subtilis?
I know in the health food store, the probiotics are pretty much all multi-strain with a variety of kinds of probiotics in the mix. Are there any that we need to avoid? Can we just grab a probiotic meant for humans as long as it contains the B. subtilis and somehow get those into the birds?
This is wonderful information, and I have all three on my shopping list. Just no clue how much to dose. I'm pretty sure my birds would benefit from probiotics at this point, but I have been wondering what to get.
Thanks so much for your advice
