Are some breed of pigeon just so lazy that all they will do all day long is perch and watch the world go by? As i have two that just do that!
I know tiplers will fly as will rollers but the trumpeters are not fliers?
Any info will be a help thanks

Thank you for your input, guess am stuck with paper weights that just eat poo drink and sleep

I have a pair of pouters that are good foster parents but can not find their way back to the loft when it is in plain sight. They eat drink and if chucked out to free fly go up onto the loft roof and directly back into the loft.

I read about Thief Pouters that lure feral and other pigeons to your loft. So I got some pouters. They do not fly at all hardly! They can not steal anything beyond the feed dish for that is the only thing they can find. All my other pigeons do find them extremely attractive I have to admit. I am thinking Thief Pouters must be some sort of cross between homers and pouters now. Does any one have pouters that are good fliers??? Some one told me mine were slap pouters because they slap their wings above their back every time they fly???.

Yours look like Swing or Brunner Pouters perhaps? For thieving you need some spanish thief pouters. Picas for example. A member here in NC breeds picas I think, as well as horseman pouters I believe?

I think the pouter might be the Alpha male in the flock. It is hard to tell. My best homer cock dominates the floor area and the pouter dominates the upper most nest boxes. However if the white homer cock decides to take an upper nest box (which he does the odd time) he is always successful. Lately the my white homer cock nest on the floor the last 3 clutches.
